LOZITHA – Former South African President Jacob Zuma has called for the Beginning of Year Prayer Service to extend beyond Eswatini and into neighbouring countries like South Africa.

Speaking during the Year Opening prayer service held at Mandvulo Grand Hall, Zuma emphasized the potential of such events to guide countries forward and restore humanity to societies that seem to have lost their moral compass. He commended the initiative, stating it provided an excellent start to the year and highlighted the importance of spiritual reflection.

Zuma lauded His Majesty King Mswati III for his efforts to unite the people of Eswatini and for consistently encouraging the nation to dedicate time for prayer twice annually. He noted that prayer and unity were essential for fostering peace and progress, not only in Eswatini but across the African continent.

The former president suggested that African nations could benefit from a return to monarchal governance, which he believed was instrumental in maintaining order and fostering unity. He remarked that South Africa, in particular, was seeking ways to restore order and proposed that empowering monarchies could bring peace and prosperity to the country.

Zuma highlighted that monarchies govern with love and have the unique ability to unify their people, paving the way for improved relations across the continent. He appealed to His Majesty King Mswati III to champion the expansion of the prayer services to other countries, believing this could strengthen unity and foster goodwill among African nations.

In closing, Zuma praised the humility of the Swazi people and encouraged them to preserve their values. He underscored the importance of events like the national prayer service, noting their role in maintaining the nation’s cultural and moral fabric.
