MBABANE – Imisebe Publishing and Printing, in collaboration with Mind Food and Soul Organisation (MFSO), hosted a successful author’s workshop Monday (July 22, 2024) at Manzini Library, Exhibition Room.
The workshop was designed to provide aspiring writers with valuable insights and practical guidance on the craft of writing and the publishing process. Krtc born Thamsanqa Sibandze was the program director of the event.
Managing Director of Imisebe Publishing and Printing, Hlobsile Stromvig, expressed her gratitude for being involved in this noteworthy endeavor.
“We thank MFSO for thinking of us when they start this program to partner with us. We don’t feel left out, this makes us find ourselves relevant for this kind of things. Author’s are what give us business and without them we don’t have jobs,” she said.
The workshop boasted a lineup of distinguished, award-winning authors who shared their personal journeys, imparted practical wisdom and inspired their fellow writers. One of these remarkable speakers was Thembekile Msibi, a multi-award-winning author who began her writing career at the tender age of 22 in the 1990s.
“An author comes from any situation or anything. It is you and your talent regardless of where you come from. What inspires the writer is the urge to put down stories that ignite our imagination and what we see,” she said.
Continuing her impassioned address, she encouraged the writers to persevere in the face of adversity. She said they must keep writing, even when it’s hard, because that’s how you will hone their craft and discover their unique voice. Sometimes they will find themselves tired, un-inspired but they must persevere as it is not an easy road.
The wealth of knowledge imparted by the workshop’s panel of speakers inspired the attending authors, who expressed their sincere gratitude for the valuable insights shared during the event. Eager to continue learning and applying the lessons from the workshop, many attendees requested that the speakers compile a comprehensive manual detailing their strategies and techniques for writing and publishing.
