MBABANE – Lowveld Walkers Group from South Africa in Mpumalanga distributes food parcels to homesteads around the country for five days.

This was confirmed by the Communications Officer of Lowveld Group Vuyile Bhila who stated that since Former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela was born in July and as part of the commemoration they dedicate 67 days giving back to the community.

She stated that they are engaging in a walk that also features Eswatini where they select needy homesteads and hand them over food parcels as part of their initiative which is the Mandela Walk and they are also going to do the same even in Mozambique.

The walk took place in the three countries being South Africa, Eswatini and Mozambique.

Joseph Mashaba the founder of the group stated that they are happy that the project is growing and that they had never thought that the project will grow in such a way that it is able to help other countries.

He stated that previously there was xenophobia in South Africa which challenged them as an organization that deals with issues such as Gender Based Violence (GBV) and cancer. He said they then decided to curb the issue of xenophobia by giving back to the neighbouring countries which is Eswatini and Mozambique to promote togetherness.
