ESWATINI PLEASED, CHALLENGED BY TAIWAN’S ECONOMIC GROWTH – KING

MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III says Eswatini is pleased and challenged by the economic growth made by the Republic of China (Taiwan).

The king said this yesterday evening (Wednesday, October 9, 2024) during the 113th National Celebration of the Republic of China, Taiwan. The king was represented by His Royal Highness (HRH) Lizinyane Bandzile.

According to the king, Emaswati are very much pleased and challenged with the huge strides that Taiwan is making in its economic growth. “As we celebrate your amazing growth, we wish to emphasise that Eswatini is ready to partner with you in all ways possible. We can be the launchpad for the production and supply of semiconductors from this side of the world to the region,” said the king.

He congratulated Taiwan President Lai Ching-te, Government and the people of Taiwan for the success of their significant economic growth and the positive impact that country made to the global community. He said there was nothing stopping them from the position they were, in terms of economic growth. The king stated that Emaswati expected even more achievements, going forward.

His Majesty the King expressed joy in maintaining the friendship with Taiwan, stating that Emaswati were pleased and honoured to be counted as steadfast diplomatic allies of Taiwan. “We have seen our bilateral relations grow each and every time owing to the mutual understanding of our commitment to our Governments and the people,” he said.

He said various sectors including public health, agriculture, ICT, energy, infrastructure and humanitarian assistance, amongst others, had continued to enjoy support from ROC Taiwan. “We must continue to foster healthy and sustainable bilateral relations to ensure that our peoples get support and services and leaving no one behind,” he said.

The king acknowledged an appreciated the rigorous effort made by the Republic of China, Taiwan, in expanding trade and investment initiatives with the Kingdom of Eswatini in multiple disciplines. He said it was the country’s desire to see high volumes in trade and investment between the two countries, which would foster healthy economic growth.

“Our continued cooperation in these areas have given us positive returns on our drive to meet our sustainable development goals and ensuring that Emaswati are given proper support in their different constituencies where you have made meaningful impact,” the king concluded.

Taiwan Ambassador His Excellency (HE) Jeremy Liang said, “Taiwan’s commitment to Eswatini remains rock solid. Taiwan will continue to partner with Eswatini in advancing national development, and the relationship between Taiwan and Eswatini will continue to grow from strength to strength.”
