MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III is saddened by the natural disasters that have hit the countries of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Kingdom of Morocco.
On Saturday (July 27, 2024) the King, through Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, sent condolences to Heads of State and other authorities of the two countries. Taiwan The prime minister said the people of the Kingdom of Eswatini were with them during these trying times.
Taiwan has been hit by Typhoon Gaemi, while Morocco has been hit by a heat wave in the city of Beni Mellal. “The Kingdom of Eswatini expresses its heartfelt condolences to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Government and the People of the Kingdom of Morocco following the loss of lives as a result of an intense heatwave in the city of Beni Mellal,” said the prime minister, when talking about the North African country.
Adding the premier said, “On behalf of His Majesty King Mswati III, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, the Government and the People of the Kingdom of Eswatini, we pray that the families and relatives of the deceased are comforted during this difficult moment of great loss.”
Speaking about Taiwan, the premier said, “On behalf of His Majesty King Mswati III, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, the Government and the People of the Kingdom of Eswatini, we express our heartfelt condolences to the Government and the People of the Republic of China (Taiwan) following the loss of lives after Typhoon Gaemi wreaked havoc and also sank a cargo ship, leaving its nine crew members missing.”
The prime minister further said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with H.E President Lai Ching-te, the Government and the People of Taiwan as well as the families of the deceased during this sad period.” Eswatini has bilateral relations with these countries, which has resulted in many Emaswati benefitting from them. One notable benefit extended to Emaswati by these two countries is opportunities to access tertiary education in those countries, with scholarships provided for by these countries.
