EZULWINI – A New beginning for Eswatini’s arts and culture scene!

Tomorrow (Wednesday, August 14, 2024) will see the launch of the much-anticipated National Arts and Culture Awards (NACA), marking the start of an exciting series of events.

The corporate launch, which is by invitation only, will kick-start a programme of symposiums, vusela sessions, and activations, culminating in regional nominations for the Awards. This was confirmed by Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) CEO Stanley Dlamini.

When reached for comment, Chairperson of the NACA Awards Sipho Big Fish Makhabane, said, “This is a new beginning for our arts and culture scene. We want to celebrate our artists and give them the recognition they deserve. It’s been too long since we’ve had an awards ceremony like this, and we’re excited to bring it back.”

His words were echoed by the CEO of Arts and Culture, who emphasised the importance of corporate support for the awards. “We are asking our partners in the corporate world to join us in making this event a success. The regional launches and sessions will be announced in due course, but for now, the focus is on the corporate launch, where potential sponsors and partners can learn more about the awards and how they can get involved, “said Dlamini.

He went on to add, “We have a range of benefits and incentives available for sponsors. For E10 000, companies can sponsor a category and have their name associated with that category. This will not only help us prepare for the awards but also ensure that each winner receives a cash prize.”

Dlamini also emphasised the importance of the Gong, a unique and highly sought-after award that will be presented at the NACA Awards.

“The Gong is a symbol of excellence in Eswatini’s arts and culture scene. We want every winner to go home with not only a trophy but also a cash prize. This will help to support the development of our creative industries and encourage more artists to pursue their passions.”

The launch event promises to be a showcase of the rich and diverse culture of Eswatini, with live performances, interactive exhibits, and inspiring speeches from key figures in the arts and culture scene.

“We want this launch to be a celebration of everything that makes Eswatini’s arts and culture scene so special,” said Makhabane. “It’s an opportunity to showcase our talent, share our stories, and inspire a new generation of artists.”
