OVER 113 NACA ENTRIES WERE RECEIVED IN 5 DAYS

MBABANE – The excitement and hype for this year’s NACA Awards is evident in the number of entries that have been submitted so far.

In a momentous milestone for the Eswatini arts and culture scene, a whopping 113 entries from 53 Tinkhundla Centres have been received within just four days of opening the NACA Awards nominations. The nominations opened last week Wednesday (21 August 2024).The deadline for the nominations is 10 September 2024.

Chairperson of the NACA Awards, Sipho Makhabane, expressed his exhilaration and said, “Local artists have been hungry for awards, which is evident in the number of entries received. It’s thrilling to see young artists submitting, some of whom have been producing work for a few years without being exposed to awards within the country.”

The CEO of the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture, Stanley Dlamini, acknowledged the diverse range of genres represented in the entries. He said, “We’re encouraged to see submissions from music, fine art, fashion, poetry, culture, DJs, and more. This is a fantastic opportunity for artists to showcase their talents and celebrate their hard work.”

With the nominations for the NACA Awards drawing closer, the organising team urges artists to submit their entries by the closing date. Makhabane said, “We’re committed to making these awards a historic event. We’d like to thank our media partners for their invaluable support in promoting the awards, and we look forward to collaborating with them as we approach the regional awards and finals,” shared the Chairman.

The NACA Awards promise to be a star-studded event, celebrating the extraordinary talents of Eswatini’s artists and showcasing the country’s rich cultural heritage.

The Chairperson remarked, “What a new awakening of Eswatini Arts and Culture!” as he contemplated the excitement and buzz surrounding the NACA Awards.

This year’s event promises to be a momentous occasion, not just for the nominated artists but also for the nation as a whole. The outpouring of support and enthusiasm from all corners of Eswatini is a testament to the importance of recognising and celebrating the contributions of these talented individuals to the country’s cultural landscape.
