MBABANE – The Olympic trio of Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa, Hayley Hoy and Chadd Ning are set to mingle with the best in sports in the world during the Paris 2024 Olympics Games.
Some of the stars set to ignite the games starting on July 26 to August 11, 2024 include basketball star LeBron James from the United States who was also announced to be a flag bearer for the US team in the opening ceremony. The US National Basketball Association’s (NBA) all-time leading scorer is back for his fourth appearance at the Olympics, but his first since 2012.
Another world star to play in the games is tennis star Rafael Nadal from Spain who is the 22-time tennis major champion and ‘king of clay’. He will team will team up with youngster Carlos Alcaraz to play doubles on the Parisian clay, and it is believed he will also go for gold in the singles competition. Nadal won an Olympic singles gold medal in 2008 and doubles gold in 2016.
Others are Gymnasts Simone Biles from the United States who booked her third straight appearance at the Games with her all-around victory at the US Olympic team trials in June, sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce from Jamaica who will compete at her fifth and final Games in the women’s 100m.
The local team left the country on Wednesday and set to arrive in Paris on Thursday with the official opening set for Friday.
