MBABANE – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has noted with delight that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has praised the country’s Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) efforts to uproot corruption in the country.
Because of this development, the premier continues with his call on Emaswati to ensure that corruption is eradicated in the country.
He said this today (Thursday, August 1, 2024) during the tour of the Lobamba Inkhundla Service Centre and the hand-over of a Toyota Quantum kombi to an association known as Khulisani bo Make. The premier, who was speaking in SiSwati, told the people of Lobamba that corruption continued to be a scourge, which was a hindrance to the country’s economic development.
Therefore, there was a need from all Emaswati to work together in fighting this problem. Dlamini said what was encouraging was that international organisations, such as the IMF were impressed with the work that was done by the country’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). “What is good is that organisations such as the IMF are seeing the work that we do as a country in fighting corruption,” Dlamini said.
He told the resident of Lobamba Inkhundla that it was a responsibility of every Liswati to get rid of corruption. He said that started with them ensuring that the building of the service centre was taken care of. They should also ensure that anything that they needed was communicated to the relevant structures in Government so that they could be assisted.
The IMF is full of praise for the ACC, as it notes, in its report, that the corruption-fighting organisation is doing a commendable job. However, the IMF pleads with Government to ensure that it continues to help the ACC with resources so that it continues with its fight against corruption. According to reports from the local media, ACC is investigating about 250 cases, and has made two arrests so far.
