MBABANE – It’s safe to say EmaSwati are embracing and tapping more into the acting space successfully, as Success Films, in association with Rival Visuals, have just released the trailer for their highly anticipated film, ‘Litsambo Lami,’ on YouTube yesterday.
This was confirmed by one of the producers, Siyabonga Nkambule, today (Monday, August 19, 2024). He shared with this publication that ‘Litsambo Lami’ is a tale of love, loss, and a shocking revelation. It was shot around Ngongola in Mafutseni. Auditions were conducted online.
The film was written by Mayibongwe Magagula and Siyabonga Nkambule. He said, “It’s a gripping drama that promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. The film delves into the complexities of love, loss, and revenge, set against the backdrop of Eswatini culture and tradition.”
When asked if he has contacted local stations to have the film aired, he said, “Yes, we have, we hope for positive feedback, and we promised Emaswati that they would watch it soon.”
‘Litsambo Lami’ tells the story of Senzo Simelane, a dedicated teacher, who is overjoyed by the arrival of his baby daughter, Khetsiwe, with his girlfriend, Gugu Dlamini. However, their happiness is shattered when Khetsiwe is kidnapped by Senzo’s vengeful ex-girlfriend, Khulile.
The kidnapping throws Senzo’s family into turmoil, with suspicion falling on Senzo’s mother, who was watching Khetsiwe when she was taken. The search for Khetsiwe becomes a race against time, filled with twists and turns that test the limits of Senzo’s love for his daughter and his loyalty to his family.
After Khetsiwe is found safe, Senzo and Gugu decide to formalise their relationship through a traditional Swati marriage. But their newfound happiness is short-lived as Pharoah, Khetsiwe’s biological father and Gugu’s abusive ex-boyfriend, returns from prison seeking revenge.
The film explores the complexities of forgiveness, the weight of past mistakes, and the enduring power of family bonds.
‘Litsambo Lami’ promises a captivating narrative that explores themes of love, betrayal, forgiveness, and the enduring power of family. With its compelling storyline, talented cast, and authentic portrayal of Swazi culture, the film is sure to resonate with audiences across the globe.
The film is led by Mlamuli Magagula (Senzo ) , he is from Malindza an experienced actor who has been featured on other SA sopies such as Rhythm City , Generations , to name a few
It also features Precious Dlamini (Gugu), who is a model and new actress discovered through the online auditions. Hlonphile Sihlongonyane, who plays the role of Anti Skuta, is an experienced actress. She has been featured in many films and drama series, both in Eswatini and South Africa. Recently, she was featured on Isitha the Enemy.
Lastly, the villain, Siyabonga Nkambule, is a well-experienced actor and director; he has been featured in many local drama series such as Lazarus, This Life, Insika, Inhlitiyo Kayivunyelwa, etc., and he has to depart for Diep City and Black Door for a one-week directing internship.
