SWALLOWS, EFA INSPECT LUCAS MORIPE STADIUM AHEAD OF CAF GAME

MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows and Eswatini Football Association (EFA) officials visited the Lucas Moripe Stadium in South Africa where ‘The Birds’ will host Mozambique’s Club Clube Ferroviario da Beira.

The first leg match of the CAF Champions League preliminary to be hosted by the MTN Premier League champions will be played on Saturday (August 16, 2024) at the venue, with kick-off being at 7pm.

Swallows officials were lead by General Manager and Governor Sandile ‘Beyond 2 000’ Zwane and EFA Communications and Marketing Officer Muzi Radebe. The reasons for the visit and tour was planning and inspecting the venue if it was in the right state to hosts the match.

Swallows confirmed the visit to the venue in Pretoria, South Africa on Friday. The team is hosting the match away from home due to Eswatini ban in hosting FIFA/ CAF games due to poor stadiums.

“CAF Game preparations (Planning and Inspection) with officials from the EFA and South Africa Lucas Moripe Stadium,” reads the statement.

The red and white outfit will then travel to Mozambique for the second leg match to be played on August 25 at Zimpeto, Mozambique.

Swallows is in South Africa for the Red Card GBV Football Tournament to be played on Saturday at Lynville Stadium, Witbank were they face Tshwane University of Technology with Nsingizini Hotspurs playing Middleburg United.
