MBABANE – The fire that will be used to roast meat during this year’s Embiveni Biggest Braai will be started by the Khoi-San tribe of Botswana.

This was revealed today (Friday, July 19, 2024) by Philani Maswati Charity Organisation Chairman Lutfo Dlamini. He said this during a live interview on Eswatini TV’s Kusile Breakfast Show. Dlamini said attendants of the Embiveni Biggest Braai did not need to carry boxes of matches to start their fire.

He said the Khoi-San tribe had the skills of starting the fire without using the matches, something that can be difficult for most Emaswati. The Khoi-San tribe arrived in the country on Wednesday (July 17, 2024), through the Ngwenya Border Gate to be part of the Embiveni Biggest Braai.

Yesterday (Thursday, June 18, 2024), there was a KhoiSan Tribe Open Lecture at Mavuso Exhibition and Trade Centre in Manzini. The lecture was meant to practically teach school-going children on how the Khoi-San tribe led their normal lives. The learners from different schools in the country were given a chance to see what they learned in schools about this tribe.

Meanwhile, Dlamini further stated that this year, it was going to be fun all the way because there would be boxing matches featuring comedians such as Silwane and Stufuza. The winner of that match will be awarded E5 000.

Dlamini also stated that there would be another boxing match pitting women. A winner of that match would walk away with E10 000, according to Dlamini. He further mentioned that the women would start by getting in the boxing ring with their traditional regalia. Dlamini emphasised that the women would not fight wearing their traditional regalia, but they would be there just to promote it.

He was clearing some rumours which were to the effect that the women would fight with their traditional regalia on. He said at the Embiveni Biggest Braai, they wanted the women’s boxing match to be professional. The chairman said the women would wear the internationally acceptable boing regalia, after showcasing their traditional regalia.
