MBABANE – There are 11 schools that will compete in a track and field event for people with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities.
The competitions to be hosted by the Special Olympics Eswatini will be held on March 13, 2025 at Mavuso Sports Centre. The 2025 Special Olympics major sponsor is the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF).
Some of the schools that are expected to feature in the competition include St Joseph’s Primary School, Ekwetsembeni Special School, Ntuthukweni Primary School, Qinisweni Primary School (Nhlangano), Balance for Life School, Ekululameni Skills Centre and Enjabulweni School among others.
The event will feature track and field events including 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 4 X 100m Relay, long jump, ball throw to mention a few.
Special Olympics Eswatini has previously hosted the athletics competition in recent years which have turned out to be a huge success as the number of participates keeps on increasing every year.
The National Director of Special Olympics Eswatini Ntombi Nkambule has encouraged other schools with people with intellectual disabilities to register for the competition as it is free of charge.
