MBABANE – Eswatini is poised to host the inaugural Darkton Daybreak Cycling event on Saturday, April 5, 2025, featuring over 128 cyclists participating in this exciting race.

The race will traverse the picturesque MR 14 route at Siphofaneni, starting and finishing at the Phumlamcashi Filling Station, which serves as the event’s headquarters, located 15 km from Siphofaneni. The event will present three distance categories: 90 km with 45 participants, 48 km with 48 participants, and 30 km with five participants.

The Darkton Daybreak aims to unite cyclists of all levels, fostering a spirit of community and inclusivity. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category, with winners receiving cash prizes and medals, among other rewards.

The 90km race will commence at 6:30am for men and 6:45am for women, while the 48 km race will start at 7:00am for both genders. The 30 km race will follow 15 minutes later for both men and women.

According to a document provided by Darkton Daybreak founder Zwide Nxumalo, the event will be timed by an independent timing provider rather than by Darkton Daybreak itself.

This cycling organization is set to become a significant fixture in the cycling calendar, celebrating diversity and empowering cyclists to push beyond their limits.

“Race numbers will be available for collection by midday on Thursday, April 4, 2025. Collection will also be possible at the race headquarters at the Phumlamcashi Filling Station on Saturday morning. Participants are advised to arrive early to ensure they do not miss their start times. For further inquiries, please contact us via WhatsApp at ‪+26876036641,” reads part of the statement.
