MBABANE – Inkhosikati Make LaNkambule, through Eswatini TV’s Outside Broadcasting Unit (OB), has once again spearheaded a donation drive to provide blankets and food to the elderly and underprivileged members under Mlindazwe, Ezulwini on Sunday (July 21, 2024).
Inkhosikati emphasized that the blankets should be given to the elderly and underprivileged people all over the country and the initiative is handled by the OB unit.
The OB unit then took it on their own hands to do what her Royal Highness (HRH) had instructed them to do. They distribute these donations to people who fall under the most unprivileged people in the community, so that they can get warm in the most cold days of the winter season.
The collaboration with OK Foods stores who donated food parcels, further enhanced the impact of the donation drive, underscoring the importance of collective efforts in supporting those in need.
Emma Vilakati, one of the beneficiaries expressed words of gratitude on the donation.
“We thank Inkhosikati as the elderly and less privileged people in the community. My children, we as the elderly now depend on other people for assistance, so in that we greatly appreciate the donation,” she said.
Vilakati highlighted the importance of such donations for the elderly and less privileged members of society, emphasizing the crucial role they play in ensuring the well-being of those in need.
Eswatini TV’s OB, in alignment with Inkhosikati’s wishes, made it a priority to reach out to the most underprivileged individuals, ensuring that they receive the much-needed warmth during the cold winter days.
Patrick Maseko, a resident of Mlindazwe and one of the beneficiaries, shared his harrowing living conditions, pleading for support in building a new house as his current one is on the verge of collapse. His poignant plea shed light on the challenging circumstances faced by many individuals in the community.
“Living in this house makes life very hard for me because I’m in a constant fear of either getting attacked by viscous snakes or the house falling and burying me alive. I ask for people to help build me another house,” he said.
William Mkhwanazi, speaking on behalf of Ezwini Umphakatsi, conveyed heartfelt gratitude for the benevolent actions of Her Royal Highness, emphasizing the positive impact her donations have had on the community.
“We thank Inkhosikati for the gracious donation. We are extremely happy for what she is doing for the people of Eswatini. Our faces are full of smiles because we will go to sleep knowing that people in our community are warm,” he remarked.
