MBABANE – Swimmer Hayley Hoy is already living the dream of Olympics ahead of the opening ceremony on Friday in Paris, France.
Hoy who will be competing in the 100m butterfly took it to another level as she got his nails done with the Olympics colours and the country (Eswatini) flag colours. She is among the three who will be representing the country in the games that starts on Friday.
She had travelled to the game with another swimmer in Chadd Ning and athlete Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa. Hoy will be the flag bearer in the opening ceremony alongside Chadd Ning.
The team left the country on Wednesday and they were due to arrive Thursday (July 25, 2024) in Paris, France.
Hoy said she was happy to be representing the country in the games and she hope to leave a mark. She said this during the farewell function at Sibane Sami Hotel on Friday where the event was attended by the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima.
Others who form part of the delegation are General Team Manager Thoba Mazibuko, Team Psychologist Lungi Khanyi and Physiotherapist Charmain Rudd.
Meanwhile, the local team is set for a spectacular in the games as they will mingle with one of the best Rappers in the world in Snoop Do as he is will be one of the final torchbearers of the Olympic flame in the last hours of its France-wide tour ahead of the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Friday.
Meanwhile, for the first time in the history of the Olympics Games, the opening ceremony will not be held in a stadium.
The Seine River is set to replace the stadium at the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony. This will be the first time that an Olympic Opening Ceremony will be held outside the stadium.
