MBABANE – It is advisable for Emaswati to make use of their Tinkhundla (Constituency) centres to develop their communities.
This was said by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini today (Friday, July 26, 2024) at Kwaluseni Inkhundla (Constituency) centre. The prime minister was opening the Inkhundla centre. According to information sourced from Eswatini Government’s social media pages, the Tinkhundla centres were enshrined in the country’s Constitution to help in improving the lives of Emaswati.
“Tinkhundla Centres are not just infrastructural buildings, but these are duly instituted in section 58 of the Constitution of our Kingdom as the engines of development. All issues that inform the development of the Kwaluseni community must be developed and concretised at the Inkhundla Centre,” Dlamini said.
The premier said collectively, the elected members and electorate of this constituency should engage and consult on broad developmental issues and the people should develop their Inkhundla Integrated Development Plan, a plan which would inform the programmes they needed to undertake to improve the livelihoods of all under Kwaluseni Inkhundla.
Dlamini further reminded the people of Kwaluseni that they had a duty of holding members of their Inkhundla Council accountable for the promises they made when they campaigned for the position they were currently holding. Inkhundla Council members include Member of Parliament (MP), Indvuna Yenkhundla (Constituency Chairperson), and the Constituency Councillors (Bucopho Benkhundla).
The prime minister also told the people of Kwaluseni that Government, led by His Majesty the King, continued to find ways to accelerate service delivery. “His Majesty’s Government continues to explore and engage to adopt meaningful ways to strengthen service delivery. The sentiments of Emaswati at Sibaya in 2023 were clear as the legitimate outcry touched the heart of His Majesty the King, who in turn, commissioned us to work with accelerated (Nkwe) speed to ensure that service delivery is improved,” he said.
“In response to the feedback from the Nation, Government commits to strengthen efforts at promoting a people-centric approach when developing systems for effective service delivery to ensure that the welfare of Emaswati is prioritised.”
The Kwaluseni Inkhundla centre is one of those that were destroyed by unknown arsonists during the political unrest of 2021. The prime minister opened the centre alongside other Cabinet Ministers such as Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Thulisile Dladla, Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi, and Kwaluseni Member of Parliament (MP) Sifiso Shongwe. Other dignitaries such as MPs and senators graced the occasion. Manzini Regional Administrator Prince Gija was also present.
