MBABANE – SOS Children’s Village held a three-day training program on foster care training at Bulembu Ministries Swaziland to provide caregivers at Bulembu home with important skills and knowledge for managing foster care cases effectively.
The training was organised by SOS and the Department of Social Welfare (DSW) and it aimed at creating capacity for the caregivers on foster care and alternative care settings. The training started on Monday and ended on Wednesday.
Speaking to this publication SOS Children’s Villages Communication Coordinator Temalangeni Dlamini said the training covered important topics including the basics of foster care, identifying potential cases, referring children to appropriate foster care services, and providing support to children in these settings.
She said the initiative is part of the organization’s broader mission to enhance the welfare of the children in their care by ensuring their staff is well-equipped to handle foster care situations. “The training seeks to improve the overall quality of care and access to necessary foster care services for children in need,” said Dlamini.
