MBABANE – The Standard Bank Luju Festival held this past weekend opened opportunities for over 300 traders who got an opportunity to sell their products during the event.

The event was held from Friday (August 2, 2024) to Saturday (August 3, 2024). The number of traders at Luju was revealed by Standard Bank Eswatini Executive Brand Marketing Manager Sibusile Sigwane when sharing on how the event went. According to Sigwane, they have seen an increase of small and medium enterprise participating in the event over the years.

Sigwane highlighted the impressive variety of traders that participated in Luju Festival, with over 300 entrepreneurs showcasing their products across different sectors. She emphasised that the traders were not just limited to local crafts and food, but also featured international fashion designers, showcasing a diverse array of skills and talent. Sigwane stressed the importance of supporting and promoting these traders to boost local entrepreneurship.

She pointed out that Standard Bank had made it easier for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to participate in the Luju Festival. She also emphasised the need for training and education for local traders, noting that while many Emaswati applied to participate in the festival, some lacked knowledge about the requirements and opportunities presented by the event.

Sigwane stressed that this training would help local entrepreneurs leverage the support offered by Standard Bank to grow their businesses and maximise their potential at the festival.

It is said that the Standard Bank Food and Lifestyle Festival has become Eswatini’s most significant event, attracting both local and international attendees. Over the past six years, the festival has revolutionised the country’s economic landscape by providing a platform for micro, small, and medium enterprises to flourish.

This event has not only boosted economic activity in the country but has also enhanced Eswatini’s image as a destination for cultural and culinary experiences.
