MBABANE – In a commendable effort to enhance women’s health in the community, Msunduza Health Care has teamed up with the Eswatini Breast and Cervical Cancer Network to offer free screening services to women in the area.
This initiative aims to raise awareness about breast and cervical cancers, which are among the leading health concerns for women in the country, as stated by Doctor Nomalungelo Dlamini. The screening services were made available at Msunduza Health Care centre (next to Solani’s Shisanyama) yesterday (Wednesday, August 14, 2024). During the event, the healthcare professionals conducted thorough examinations to detect any early signs of these potentially life-threatening diseases.
Dr Dlamini also mentioned that the Msunduza health care was mostly visited by young women that seek medical assistance with sexually related diseases, hence they saw the need for public health intervention and to educate them on how they can take care of themselves. “We have decided to bring the screening services to the community for free so that they do not have to worry about money to pay for hospital bills,” she said.
This initiative not only provides essential health services but also empowers women by encouraging them to take charge of their health through regular screenings. Simphiwe Dlamini, a woman who went for screening, expressed her gratitude for the availability of these services, highlighting the importance of early detection in increasing survival rates.
“Having access to free screenings is a blessing for many women, and I am thankful that we were provided with these services for free,” Simphiwe stated. “It helps us understand our health better and gives us peace of mind.”
By providing these screenings, the organisations hope to foster a culture of proactive health management among women, ultimately leading to better health outcomes.
