ABOUT E1 MILLION EACH FOR SWALLOWS, NSINGIZINI FROM CAF

MBABANE – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) envoys, Mbabane Swallows and Nsingizini Hotspurs will receive about E1 million each.

CAF confirmed that each club will receive about 1 million ($50 000) as financial assistance in the preliminary round of the Champions League and Confederation Cup. CAF is giving the participation fee for the first time as financial benefits were given to teams who reached the group stage sin the past.

Meanwhile, the winners of the CAF Champions League will take home about E71 million while CAF Confederation Cup champions will receive about E35 million.

“In line with the CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe’s promise to improve club Competitions and provide more financial assistance to clubs, the clubs participating in the Preliminary Stages of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup will receive USD 50 000 each,” reads a statement from CAF.

The First Preliminary Round begins with first leg matches scheduled between 16-18 August, followed by return legs from 23-25 August 2024.

Mbabane Swallows takes on Clube Ferroviario da Beira on Friday evening at Lucas Moripe Stadium while Nsingizini Hotspurs will face South Africa’s Stellenbosch at Moses Mabhida Stadium, South Africa.

The Second Preliminary Round will take place in September, with group stage places at stake.
