BUFFALOES LADIES MADE HISTORY WITH A 4-0 WIN IN CAF/ COSAFA

MBABANE – High flying Young Buffaloes Ladies team made history today (Tuesday, August 20, 2024) when they reached the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League/COSAFA Qualifier in Malawi.

A hat-trick by Siphilisiwe Ndlovu propelled the team to a 4-0 rout of Mozambique’s UD de Lichinga to seal their spot in the semi-finals for the first time after three appearances in the tournament.

Buffaloes are likely to finish Group B either in the first place or second spot as Gaborone United from Botswana was due to play Ascent Academy from Malawi in a later kick-off to complete the group.

The hat-trick hero, Siphilisiwe Ndlovu is he current leading goal scorer. The other goal during the match was scored by Celiwe Nkambule.

Buffaloes reached the semi-finals after a poor start as they lost 2-1 to Ascent Academy and playing a 1-all draw against Botswana’s Gaborone United then the 4-0 win against UD de Linginga.

Buffaloes took their fancied opponents who were the group leaders going to the last group games by surprise as Siphilisiwe scored in less than 10 minutes while four minutes later Celiswe Nkambule made it 2-0.

The game went for the break Buffaloes leading 2-0 and they scored the same number of goal in the second half to secure the victory.

The overall winner of the 10-day tournament will qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League’s continental finals, joining Mamelodi Sundowns.

The semi-finals would be played on Thursday with the finals two days later.
