MBABANE – Eswatini Edgars Stores donated clothing worth over E41 000 to Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society (BERCS).
The donations were handed over by Edgars Stores Corporate Social Investment Champion, Patricia Dlamini at the Edgars Stores – Swazi Plaza in Mbabane.
Dlamini emphasised the importance of their relationship with the Red Cross, it is through their partnership that they have been able to reach all the communities they have in these 10 years together. She further stated that they looked forward to many more years of humanitarian service with the National Society.
“We have been in partnership with the Red Cross for over 10 years now and we are pleased that we have worked well with them. Today’s donation is E41 275. However, in all the time that we have worked together, the estimate value of the donations we have made to the Red Cross is close to a million emalangeni. As a company, we are delighted to be able to give back to our communities as a way of saying thank you to our clients for buying from us. And the bonus for us has always been being able to also meet the recipients of these goods. That always encourages us to keep doing what we do with Baphalali,” said Dlamini.
Eswatini Red Cross Public Relations Officer (PRO) Nontobeko Dlamini received the donation on behalf of the Red Cross Society. She thanked Edgars for the continued support extended to BERCS.
“Many communities have received humanitarian assistance through the Red Cross and such partnerships as we have with the EDGARS Stores invaluably increase our reach. We are grateful for the continued support from EDGARS stores, and more importantly we thank them on behalf of the communities that are the end beneficiaries of this contribution; because they may not be able to do that themselves,” Nontobeko remarked.
She also added that this has been one of the National Societies longest partnerships locally and has reached out to many communities nationwide. Dlamini then encouraged other companies to also reach out to the Red Cross to assist communities in need of humanitarian aid. She highlighted that the Red Cross responds to many disaster stricken communities and help is always welcome.
“We offer humanitarian assistance to all people in need, impartially,” she said.
