MBABANE – The opening of the veterinary offices in Maphalaleni Constituency will now enable farmers in that place to commercialise agriculture.
This is because the people from that constituency will now be able to get services in their place on what they could do to keep their animals healthy. This was said by Maphalaleni Member of Parliament (MP) Mabulala Maseko, who is also Minister of Public Service.
Maseko said this today (Friday, October 18, 2024) during the official opening of the veterinary offices in that constituency. The veterinary offices were opened by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini. Maseko said this event marked the beginning of an era where Maphalaleni would be known countrywide as a place of massive agricultural produce.
The minister pointed out that prior to this development, Maphalaleni had been able to produce different kinds of crops and were able to take care of different animals. He even made an example of cattle, stating that they were as many as 20 000 in the constituency. However, they had problems when they wanted veterinary services. They had to get such in Mbabane, yet they had problems with roads.
For a long time now, Maphalaleni residents had difficulties transporting people and goods from one place to another because roads were not favourable. To make matters worse, the terrain of the whole constituency is rugged. The place is full of mountains, some of which can be dangerous for motorists and pedestrians.
According to the legislator, the veterinary offices will alleviate the problems faced by the farmers. However, the transportation problems will still persist, as the roads would continue to pose a challenge. It is for that reason why the lawmaker pleaded with Government to help the residents under that constituency to at least pave the road that led to Mbabane, via areas such as Mbuluzi and Pine Valley.
Maseko further implored Government to pave the road from Mbuluzi, via Luve, as he believed that those routes could help Maphalaleni residents to have access to almost all the areas in the country. He MP heaped praises to the farmers from that area for being able to raise an amount of about E200 000 in order for them to get help from the Regional Development Fund (RDF).
