SOMHLOLO FOR TINKHUNDLA TALENT SEARCH CROSS-COUNTRY NATIONAL CHAMPS ON NOVEMBER 30

MBABANE – The Somhlolo National Stadium will come alive on Saturday (November 30, 2024) when it plays hosts to the Inkhundla Talent Search Cross-Country National Championships.

Competing on the day will be the winners from the regions who excelled during the regional competition. They will be competing for national accolades in the middle-distance (cross-country) competition with the four regions being Hhohho, Lubombo, Shiselweni and Manzini battling it out for the national championship.

This was announced by the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Darius Dlomo on Sunday during the Development of Nation Sports System (DNSS) graduation ceremony held at Mhlume Country Club on Sunday.

“We are thrilled to announce that the highly anticipated National Championships for the Tinkhundla Talent Search Cross-Country has been set. This major event will take place on November 30, 2024 at Somhlolo National Stadium, starting at 8am.

The wait is over and we wish all athletes the best as they prepare thoroughly and get ready to give it their best all in this special day. Let’s all come to cheer them on and show support. See you on this day,” reads a statement from the Athletics Eswatini (AE).

AE has been busy for the past two months hosting the cross-country races at the regional level. This initiative is under the Tinkhundla National Talent Search that was launched by the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs. It was sponsored to the tune of E2 million and it included Under-20 Football tournament in sports that were played first at regional level and then at national level.

The winners will be presented with some prizes as the package for the athletics is close to E500k after AE improved the package.
