MBABANE – The Mbabane Day will kick-start with the 21km (Half Marathon) as early as 5:30am with the 10km next 10 minutes later and the 5km will start at 5:50am.
The starting point for the three races will be at the gantry board after the Mbabane Club gate. The Mbabane Day will also feature sporting codes including boxing and basketball. There are over 1 000 runners expected to take part in the Mbabane Half Marathon.
The Mbabane Half Marathon is hosted by Municipal Council of Mbabane with the support of MTN under Fintech who sponsored the Mbabane Half Marathon with E250 000.
Its good news for runners as water points will be available for every three kilometers of the route. The different water stations will provide either water, sugars or fruits supplements. Runners are not allowed to receive water from anyone other than the designated water points.
Some of the rules for runners are that only registered athlete would be allowed in the competition area and athletes from outside the country must carry their clearance from their Members Federations and they fail they will have to forfeit their prize monies.
The cut-off time for the 21km is 8:30am which means runners have about three hours while podium finishers will be presented with gold medals while all those to cross the finish line before the cut-off time will be awarded with silver medals.
