MBABANE – The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) have collaborated to improve agriculture in the country.
This ensures that everyone in this country has access to food. However, the situation is still a bit distant, as about 230 000 people in this country are in dire need of food, according to reports issued by the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP) in April this year.
In response to this situation, Minister of ICT Savannah Maziya has roped in a company known as Farm to Plate from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The company met Minister Maziya and Minister of Agriculture Mandla Tshawuka yesterday (Wednesday, November 27, 2024) in Matsapha, where the company explained what it intended to do to improve agriculture and food security in the country.
The UAE-based company promised that the country would improve its food production through this partnership. The company executives stated that other countries benefitted from a partnership of this nature. Minister of Agriculture Mandla Tshawuka hailed this development as a positive step.
Tshawuka said his Ministry was also working to ensure that the food produced and animals reared were fit for human consumption.
