MBABANE – The country’s tourism sector is encouraging locals to spend their holidays within the kingdom.
According to Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA), spending within the country during the festive season is a move that promises to boost the local economy, create jobs, and support businesses across the nation.
ETA Head of Marketing Chunkie Dlamini has urged citizens to explore the hidden gems within their own borders, emphasising that holidaying in Eswatini will have far-reaching positive effects on the country’s growth.
“By choosing to stay within Eswatini, we can directly contribute to our economy by supporting local businesses, creating jobs, and helping empower our communities,” Dlamini said. She added that they have lined up exciting campaigns for local residents to encourage them to explore local tourism attractions.
“This festive season, we have an incredible opportunity to make a difference by enjoying the beautiful destinations and experiences Eswatini has to offer,” she added. This call to action is especially timely as businesses across the kingdom gear up for a season filled with family-friendly activities and unforgettable experiences.
Dlamini’s sentiments were also echoed by IF’s Lounge and Restaurant Thulani Ntshangase, who was interviewed separately on the subject matter. IF’s Lounge and Restaurant, which is found in Manzini and Mbabane, is one such local establishment welcoming families for a festive season filled with fun and excitement. He stated that they also had activities lined up to entertain members of the public.
“We have lined up a variety of activities to ensure that families can spend quality time together this holiday season. It is not just about great food. We want to create an atmosphere where memories are made,” Ntshangase shared.
He emphasised the importance of supporting local businesses, stating that when families dine and enjoy local services, they help sustain jobs and contribute to Eswatini’s economic growth.
ETA has also been actively encouraging people to join the #EswatiniSummerSplash campaign, with special giveaways for those who take pictures in colorful attire at various Eswatini destinations.
Dlamini remarked, “This festive season, we want to showcase the vibrant culture and natural beauty of Eswatini. By participating in campaigns like #EswatiniSummerSplash, locals are also participating in promoting the country as a great holiday destination, not only for tourists but for us as citizens as well.”
These efforts are more than just celebrations—they are part of a larger vision to stimulate the country’s economy and foster community empowerment. Supporting local tourism and dining establishments is an easy way for residents to play an active role in this growth.
As the festive season unfolds, Eswatini offers an abundance of ways to make the most of the holidays. Whether dining out at local restaurants, exploring scenic destinations, or taking part in community events, there are numerous opportunities to create cherished memories and support the nation’s growth.
So, as the holidays approach, let’s embrace the beauty of Eswatini and spend this season celebrating at home, contributing to the growth and success of our local businesses and communities.
