ESWATINI MALE NETBALL TEAM MAKES HISTORY WITH SILVER MEDAL TRIUMPH

MBABANE – Eswatini’s male netball team has stunned the continent by claiming a silver medal in their maiden outing at the Netball Africa Cup, earning praise and pride from the Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council (ESRC).

The team’s incredible journey to the finals captured the nation’s attention, culminating in a hard-fought match against South Africa. Although they narrowly missed out on the gold, the team’s performance was nothing short of extraordinary, marking a milestone for Eswatini in the international sports arena.

ESRC Media Officer Dumisani Ntiwane applauded the team’s achievement, saying, “We were not expecting such an achievement considering this was the first time our team competed at this level. We are obviously pleased with the stunning performance by the local lads. They have made us proud.”

Ntiwane highlighted that the ESRC is committed to rewarding podium finishes on such prestigious platforms. “It is no secret that we reward our achievers. The team will be rewarded for their exceptional effort,” he added.

Despite being newcomers to the competition, Team Eswatini defied the odds to secure the runners-up position, signalling a bright future for netball in the kingdom. “We believe this is the start of good things to come for Eswatini. It is clear that there is something right being done by the netball association,” Ntiwane remarked.

The silver medal victory has sparked excitement and optimism across the country, inspiring hopes for greater success in the future. Eswatini’s male netball team has not only put the nation on the map but has also set the stage for further accomplishments in African and international netball.
