KING SADDENED BY FORMER US PRESIDENT CARTER’S PASSING

Mbabane – His Majesty King Mswati III has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the United States of America (USA) and all affected by the passing of former US President Jimmy Carter at the age of 100.

President Carter, born on October 1, 1924, served as the 39th President of the United States. On behalf of the King, Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, the Government, and the people of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini extended condolences in an official statement.

“On behalf of His Majesty King Mswati III, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, the Government, and the People of the Kingdom of Eswatini, I extend our deepest condolences on the passing of former US President Jimmy Carter,” Dlamini stated.

The Prime Minister highlighted President Carter’s remarkable contributions as a leader, humanitarian, and advocate for peace, noting that his legacy left an indelible mark globally.

“President Carter exemplified dedication to public service through his unwavering commitment to human rights, democracy, and global health. His efforts in forging peace agreements, particularly the Camp David Accords, showcased his diplomatic acumen and vision for a more harmonious world,” Dlamini said.

He further urged the international community to remember Carter not just as a former president but as a compassionate figure who inspired countless individuals. “As we reflect on his contributions, may we all remember him as a compassionate individual who inspired people around the globe,” the Prime Minister added.

“In this time of mourning, we stand in solidarity with the United States and honor President Carter’s memory by continuing to uphold the values he championed throughout his life. May his legacy inspire future generations to pursue peace, justice, and compassion.”

According to the White House, Carter, whose full name was James Earl Carter Jr., served as President from 1977 to 1981. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his efforts in resolving international conflicts, advancing democracy and human rights, and promoting economic and social development.

The Kingdom of Eswatini joins the world in mourning the loss of a global icon whose life was dedicated to service and peace.
