LOZITHA – Her Majesty the Indlovukazi has urged Christians to emulate Simon Peter, who transitioned from being a fisherman to a “catcher of men” through the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Speaking at the Beginning of Year National Prayer Service held at Mandvulo Grand Hall, the Indlovukazi drew parallels between Peter’s miraculous catch of fish and the role of Christians today. She explained that the fish symbolized people who are yet to become Christians, emphasizing that believers have a responsibility to bring others into the faith.

Her Majesty highlighted that even those who have already converted should continuously be “caught” by the Word of God, inspiring them to share their faith without hesitation. “Christians have the critical task of reaching out to others and guiding them towards Christianity,” she said.

The Queen Mother’s message was rooted in the Gospel of Luke, which recounts the story of the Miraculous Catch of Fish. She narrated how Jesus helped Peter and his partners catch an extraordinary number of fish after a fruitless night of fishing. This miracle, she noted, marked a pivotal moment where Jesus told Peter, “From now on, you will catch men.”

The Gospel passage describes how Peter and his companions were overwhelmed by the abundant catch, prompting Peter to declare his unworthiness before Jesus. Nevertheless, Jesus reassured him with the words, “Don’t be afraid.” The event culminated in Peter and his partners leaving everything behind to follow Jesus, committing themselves to His mission.

Her Majesty encouraged Christians to reflect on this story and dedicate themselves to spreading the Word of God, drawing strength from its teachings to fulfil their spiritual calling.
