MBABANE – The Government of Eswatini is optimistic about the commencement of the 2025 academic year, with the majority of schools set to reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
Speaking on behalf of the government, Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo expressed confidence in the commitment and excellence of teachers, whom he described as pivotal to the nation’s development.
“The government does not doubt that teachers will continue with their culture of excellence, as highlighted by His Excellency Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini. Teachers are exemplary in many fundamental ways, both in and out of the classroom. No leader has not passed through the capable hands of a dedicated teacher,” Nxumalo said.
He further commended the strong collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT), noting that this partnership has become a second culture that is expected to thrive further in 2025.
Nxumalo urged learners across the country to seize the opportunity of education with dedication and determination. “A chance to get an education is a lifetime opportunity. It is worth all the sacrifices one can make in life,” he emphasized.
Highlighting His Majesty King Mswati III’s declaration of 2025 as the year to “Enter Your Promised Land,” Nxumalo said the year symbolizes the realization of dreams and the fulfilment of aspirations.
“In simpler terms, 2025 is a year of dreams fulfilled, goals achieved, and promises realized. It is a time to fight less and enjoy more, to savour the fruits of hard work and perseverance,” he explained.
As the academic year begins, the government’s message is one of optimism, unity, and progress. Teachers, learners, and stakeholders are encouraged to embrace this vision as Eswatini strives to make 2025 a transformative year for education and national development.
