MBABANE – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has officially appointed Pat Vilakati as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on a four-year contract.
Vilakati was unveiled on Monday by PLE Chairman Polycarp Dlamini, who was accompanied by Vice Chairman Sithembiso ‘Ngudze’ Mamba and Executive Member Sandile ‘Beyond 2 000’ Zwane.
Having served as acting CEO since August following Kenneth Makhanya’s resignation to rejoin Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa, Vilakati now assumes the role on a full-term basis. Also introduced was Football Manager Banele Masondo, who had been serving in an interim capacity before securing a permanent appointment.
“We granted them a four-year contract to align with our tenure in office. When our term ends, they will remain for a short period to oversee the transition before new elections. We trust that they will uphold integrity and professionalism in their service to the organization,” stated Dlamini.
Dlamini emphasized the expectation for both officials to work impartially with all teams and contribute to the overall improvement of the league. He highlighted their responsibility to ensure fairness and enhance the quality of football in the country.
Vilakati brings over a decade of experience within the PLE, having previously served as Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Football Manager.
Similarly, Masondo has been with the PLE for more than ten years, starting as Development Manager, where he worked closely with junior teams, before his appointment as acting Football Manager, which has now been made permanent.
