MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders have reinforced their squad for the remainder of the season by unveiling six new players, including international talents, as they aim to reclaim their former glory.

The club has faced internal challenges following the disappearance of South African businessman Ally Kgomongwe, as well as the departures of Manager Simiso Jele and Coach Mthunzi Ginindza, who have both joined Botswana-based side Extension Gunners.

Among the newly signed players are South African defensive midfielder Bamba Maliwa, midfielder Simanga Mabaso, attacking player Kgauhelo Maboea, right centre-back Tebho Malefetse, winger Thando Dube, and striker Merngas Mashwama.

“Please welcome the new signings to the Mbabane Highlanders family,” the club announced in a statement.

These players are expected to strengthen the team as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures in the MTN Premier League, having already been eliminated from the ongoing Ingwenyama Cup.

The Highlanders will take on Rangers on Wednesday at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre, with the match kicking off at 3 PM.

Currently, the team sits in 11th place in the MTN Premier League standings, just above the relegation zone. They have secured 13 points from 14 matches, closely followed by Sisonkhe with 12 points. Sidvwashini United is in 13th place, while Madlenya sits at the bottom of the table with only three points from 15 matches.

With these new reinforcements, Highlanders hope to turn their season around and climb up the league standings.
