LOBAMBA – The 2025/26 budget has allocated substantial funding to infrastructure development, a move aimed at fostering economic growth and improving service delivery.
Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg emphasized government’s commitment to expanding and maintaining Eswatini’s infrastructure.
“Infrastructure development is key to unlocking economic potential, improving connectivity, and creating employment opportunities for emaSwati,” stated Rijkenberg.
The budget provides for the following key infrastructure projects:
- Roads and Bridges: E1.21 billion allocated for major roadworks and rural road surfacing.
- Water Supply Projects: E737.36 million for the Mpakeni Dam and additional funding for small- and medium-scale water supply projects.
- Energy Expansion: E80 million to accelerate the country’s electrification program, with a goal of 100% electricity access by 2030.
By investing in infrastructure, the government hopes to attract foreign investors, boost trade, and improve accessibility across the nation.
“Our commitment is to ensure that no region is left behind. The capital expenditure increase is a reflection of our strategic approach towards inclusive economic growth,” the Minister added.
HEALTH SECTOR RECEIVES MAJOR BUDGET BOOST
LOBAMBA – Eswatini’s health sector received a significant allocation in the 2025/26 budget, reflecting government’s commitment to improving healthcare services.
Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg emphasized that access to quality healthcare remains a national priority.
“Our healthcare system must be adequately funded to ensure emaSwati receive the best possible services. We are strengthening infrastructure, expanding essential services, and increasing healthcare personnel,” Rijkenberg stated.
Health Budget Breakdown:
- Total Health Allocation: E3.10 billion
- Hospital Upgrades and Equipment: E750 million
- Recruitment of Healthcare Workers: E500 million
- Essential Medicine and Supplies: E400 million
- National Health Insurance Program Expansion: E350 million
Among key healthcare initiatives, the government has prioritized the expansion of regional hospitals, improved rural clinic facilities, and increased stock of essential medications.
“We are focusing on improving primary healthcare, ensuring that rural areas have well-equipped clinics and trained personnel,” the Minister added.
Additionally, E500 million has been set aside for the recruitment of additional doctors and nurses to address staff shortages in government hospitals.
“With this budget, we hope to create a healthcare system that serves all citizens efficiently and effectively,” Rijkenberg concluded.
EDUCATION SECTOR FUNDING AND REFORMS
LOBAMBA – The government of Eswatini has placed a strong emphasis on education in the 2025/26 budget, increasing allocations to improve infrastructure, teaching capacity, and access to education.
Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg highlighted the importance of ensuring quality education for all.

LOBAMBA – The 2025/26 budget has recognized agriculture as a crucial sector for food security and economic development.
Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg announced a significant increase in funding to support smallholder farmers, irrigation schemes, and commercial agriculture development.

SOCIAL WELFARE PROGRAMS RECEIVE INCREASED FUNDING
LOBAMBA – To protect the most vulnerable members of society, government has increased funding for social welfare programs.
Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg emphasized that the goal is to provide a safety net for marginalized groups while ensuring inclusive economic growth.

“SMEs are the key to job creation and economic resilience. This budget introduces new funding programs, tax incentives, and training opportunities to support entrepreneurs,” Rijkenberg announced.
