MBABANE – Football supporters have been urged to maintain a violence-free environment during the Ingwenyama Cup games and to adhere to road safety regulations while attending the matches.
The Ingwenyama Cup progresses to the quarter-finals stage on Saturday and Sunday, featuring both the elite and women’s tournaments. A double-header will take place on Saturday at Mavuso Sports Centre for the elite matches, with a further double-header scheduled at Manzini Club for the Ingwenyama Cup women’s tournament.
Prince Bukhosi expressed his contentment that, since the tournament commenced last month, there have been no reports of violence or accidents. He noted that this reflects the effectiveness of the lessons imparted by the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF), indicating that the public is heeding these important messages.
He remarked that football and culture serve as excellent vehicles for disseminating road safety messages to the nation.
“Their Majesties have conveyed their gratitude regarding the progress of the tournament, and we hope to reach the finals stage without witnessing any instances of violence or accidents,” he stated.
SMVAF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) David Myeni also commended the Emaswati for their exemplary behavior since the tournament resumed. He expressed satisfaction as a sponsor, noting that the nation has united through football and culture, effectively embracing the road safety messages conveyed during these competitions.
“We are pleased that the majority of Emaswati are aware of the appropriate actions to take when involved in road accidents, which is a testament to the success of the Ingwenyama Cup,” he remarked.
Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chairman Polycarp Dlamini invited fans to come out and support both the cultural competitions and football across all venues nationwide. The cultural competitions will take place on Saturday and Sunday at Buhleni Sports Ground and Mavuso Sports Centre, respectively.
