MBABANE – The Kusekhaya Cycling club is reeling from the sudden loss of Vitor Manuel Da Costa Oliveria, who passed away on 09 April 2025 following a bicycle accident. Born on 04 October 1961, the 64-year-old leaves behind a legacy of generosity and connection that spanned decades.
In a statement released by the family, they described their grief as “profound,” emphasizing Vitor’s role as a unifying force. “His kindness knew no borders, and his impact on this community will never fade,” the statement read. Known for his passion for cycling and community building, Vitor was a familiar face in Mbabane, often seen pedaling through the city’s streets or engaging in cultural events at the Portuguese Club.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on 26 April 2025 at Mayer Dolorosa Catholic Church, followed by an “After Tears” gathering at the Portuguese Club. Attendees are requested to bring a plate of food to share, a gesture reflecting Vitor’s belief in communal solidarity. The family has invited friends, colleagues, and acquaintances to celebrate his life, which they describe as “a tapestry of love, resilience, and service.”
Tributes have poured in from across the region, with many recalling his mentorship and unwavering optimism. “He had this rare ability to make everyone feel seen,” said a longtime friend.
As arrangements continue, the family has requested privacy while thanking the public for their support. Vitor’s life, they noted, was a reminder that “even the simplest acts of kindness can ripple through generations.”
