MANZINI – “We Are African!”
“I want to let the world know what we stand for as Africans!” These powerful words come from none other than Beauty Hadebe, a 22-year-old fashion, runway, and cultural model who is quickly emerging as a voice for young creatives in Eswatini.
Across the Kingdom, the youth are making a significant mark in fashion, art, and culture. From bold fashion choices to innovative artistic expression, young EmaSwati are proudly telling their stories to the world. Among them is Hadebe—born and raised in Manzini, a town known for its evolving fashion landscape. “Manzini is a fast-evolving fashion center,” she says. “The people here are always dressed in stylish outfits, making it a great place for fashion inspiration.” Growing up in this vibrant atmosphere ignited her passion for fashion from an early age.
Hadebe’s modeling journey was sparked by her admiration for renowned model Mbali Msimango. “Mbali made me strongly move toward my modeling passion,” she shares. Inspired by Msimango’s success, Beauty decided to pursue her own dream—blending fashion with cultural storytelling.
To Beauty, fashion is not just about clothing—it’s a powerful form of identity. “It’s a sense of expression of who I am through art,” she says. For her, it’s a way to represent her Swazi heritage and connect with others. “I want to let the world know what we stand for as Africans.”
Her talents have already taken her to respected platforms such as the CCB Discovery Fashion Show in Pretoria. “Getting to model some of the best-designed clothing filled with passion was a dream come true,” she recalls. The experience was empowering and validating, introducing her to key figures in the fashion industry and expanding her network.
However, Hadebe is quick to point out the many challenges faced by aspiring models in Eswatini. “There is a lack of proper showcases for rising talent,” she explains. Many young models struggle to find opportunities to display their skills. The local modeling industry often feels overlooked, and limited investment has hindered its growth. “More financial investment is needed, but the rewards are limited,” she adds.
Despite these setbacks, she remains undeterred. Hadebe believes in the power of passion and perseverance. “Nothing changes unless the few passionate people fight against the odds for a positive future in this industry,” she asserts. For Hadebe, the way forward lies in unity and support within the creative community. She envisions a future filled with fashion showcases, events, and competitions that highlight local talent. “Creating platforms will improve the quality and reliability of this field,” she explains.
Looking ahead, Hadebe has big dreams. She plans to open her own fashion boutique and start a modeling agency. “I plan to raise capital from doing nails, makeup, and modeling,” she says. Her goal is to invest in sewing equipment and create a space where aspiring models can train, grow, and gain recognition. “I want to create a space where aspiring models can develop their skills and gain recognition.”
Her mission goes beyond personal success—it’s about empowering the next generation. “The quality, influence, and growth of this field will be shaped by passionate people like us,” she emphasizes. Her vision is rooted in the belief that community and collaboration can transform the local fashion industry.
Beauty Hadebe stands as a true representative of Eswatini’s creative youth—a generation that’s bold, innovative, and proud of its roots. With her resilience, passion, and commitment to uplifting others, the future of Eswatini’s fashion scene looks brighter than ever.
“It starts with us,” she says. And with people like Beauty leading the way, that future is in capable hands.
