SITEKI – The Siteki Town Council has officially launched its Rebranding and Destination Marketing Strategy, setting the stage for a new era of development, investment and community pride.
The launch event, held on Thursday morning at the Council Boardroom, was led by His Lordship Mayor Bongsipho Dlamini and Chief Executive Officer Sithembile Simelane.
The gathering brought together councillors, members of the media, business leaders, youth representatives and other key stakeholders.
“This is not just a branding exercise,” said Simelane. “It’s about shaping a new identity, narrative and future for Siteki, with its people at the centre.”
The rebranding campaign follows the recent adoption of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) 2024–2029, which outlines strategic goals such as financial sustainability, infrastructure development, improved service delivery, local economic growth and public safety.
The strategy seeks to reposition Siteki as a modern, welcoming and investment-friendly town.
Simelane noted that despite its rich history, cultural relevance and geographical advantage, Siteki has long struggled with underexposure, outdated signage, and a lack of visual identity.
The new strategy aims to change that by modernising the town’s look and feel, while also empowering its residents to take part in the transformation process.
Residents, business owners, youth and visitors are being invited to co-create Siteki’s new image through surveys, polls and consultations. According to the Council, community input will guide the development of a fresh logo, tagline, colour palette and overall brand identity.
“We want people to walk through Siteki and feel pride, safety and opportunity,” said Simelane. “When people hear the name Siteki, we want them to think: this is where opportunity lives.”
The rebranding strategy is structured around five key pillars, brand identity development, tourism positioning, real estate promotion, business growth and stakeholder engagement. It aims to attract investors, boost eco-tourism, enhance infrastructure, and foster collaboration between the town’s leadership and its residents.
The Council has appointed Stratcom, a local communications agency, to lead public engagement, creative development and stakeholder outreach.
“This is a town that’s not waiting to be discovered,” said Simelane. “Siteki is stepping up to define itself.”
As the first phase rolls out, community members are urged to participate actively in the ongoing digital and paper-based surveys. The Council says the success of the strategy will depend on widespread public involvement and continued collaboration with businesses, civic groups and youth leaders.
With a clear vision and inclusive approach, Siteki is poised to write a fresh chapter, one where its heritage meets innovation, and its people lead the charge into a brighter, bolder future.
