MBABANE – Acting Prime Minister (APM) Thulisile Dladla has committed to building new homes for two underprivileged families in Siteki, Eswatini.

This promise comes after her visit to the area, where she met with women facing significant challenges while caring for children with disabilities.

 Stories of Resilience

 Ntombi Zulu’s Struggles

One of the families is led by Ntombi Zulu, a widow from Mlindazwe who is raising four disabled children and two disabled grandchildren. Ntombi shared her heartbreaking story of how her children, who were all born healthy, began to show signs of autism at various ages, leading to their withdrawal from school due to a lack of specialized support. Despite the challenges, she has been supported by her compassionate neighbors, including Sibusiso Mbingo, the Director of Micro Projects. However, her most pressing concern remains the lack of a proper home for her family.

 Gelane Maziya’s Plea

Another poignant story comes from Gelane Maziya, who is seeking housing assistance for her nephew, Bheki Mphila, a 29-year-old orphan who lost his left arm to cancer. Bheki currently lives in difficult conditions with his aunt, highlighting the urgent need for better living arrangements.

 Government Response

In response to these families’ needs, Acting Prime Minister Dladla has pledged to construct new homes for both Ntombi and Gelane’s families. Additionally, she announced that Bheki and another individual, Zweleka, would be enrolled in vocational training programs—carpentry and hairdressing, respectively. This initiative aims to empower them with skills that promote independence and dignity.

This commitment reflects a broader effort by the government to support vulnerable populations and improve living conditions for those in need.
