MBABANE – From the modelling ramp to international magazine cover!
That is the story of Miss Cultural Heritage Melinda ‘Mely’ Mavuso (20) from the Manzini Region who graced an international magazine cover from Zimbabwe called ‘Rumour’. The magazine is available on a website and a WhatsApp channel on the link: https://rumourzw.wordpress.com/
The beauty ambassador shared with this publication that the interview was done in May.
“An international editor based in Zimbabwe, Charly Megah Jones, inboxed me on Facebook, and he mentioned that he liked my work and had been following me for quite some time, so he would like to feature me in a magazine,” she said.
She went on to add that gracing an international cover talking about her work as Miss Cultural Heritage felt amazing and a dream come true for her because it’s a manifestation.
In a previous interview, Zwane shared that culture is an umbrella term that involves the customs, arts, history, and achievements of a particular nation. She strongly believes young people should make it a norm to participate in national events because it is the most accessible way for them to uphold their culture.
According to Zwane, her first major achievement as a pageant model was when she was crowned the 2nd Princess (Miss Teen Manzini 2017/18). She was crowned Model of the Year under the Social Media Awards 2022. She has also been a judge on numerous occasions. These include; Mr. Eswatini 2023, Miss Fishers 2022, and Miss Curvaceous.
Zwane is currently pursuing a secretarial course at St. Workers College. She also shared with this publication that she has a vision of being an international model representing Eswatini on a global scale.
Zwane was crowned the queen with four regional ambassadors on December 17 at the George Hotel. The regional ambassadors who were crowned are;
Shiselweni region: Lethukuthula Matsebula.
Lubombo region: Luyanda Ndlela
Manzini region: Nowethu Motsa
Hhohho region: Yandiswa Magagula.
