At just 19 years old, Nontsikelelo Nhlabatsi from Sigangeni is proving that determination, creativity, and confidence can take you from a small community to the global stage. The young model is already making waves in the industry with her striking presence, passionate attitude, and a growing portfolio that shows she’s just getting started.
“I’m a hardworking and driven individual who isn’t afraid to face challenges,” she confidently states. For Nhlabatsi, modeling is more than just a dream, it’s a deep-rooted passion, a platform for expression, and a door to international recognition. Inspired by her love for fashion and the desire to express herself creatively, she has taken bold steps to chase opportunities, even beyond borders.
One such opportunity was participating in an online casting for the CBB Discovery Show, where she successfully earned her spot. “It helped reduce performance anxiety and made the experience more accessible. Being far from the city, I still had the chance to audition. That alone made a huge difference,” she explains.
Getting the call to walk the runway was a defining moment. “I felt elated knowing that I did great and got the opportunity to walk the runway and be seen by many people,” she says. Her debut on the fashion runway was a whirlwind of emotions, “electrifying, filled with nerves and joy,” she recalls. Despite some quick wardrobe changes and pressure-filled moments, the professionalism of the team made it all unforgettable.
But Nhlabatsi didn’t just walk. She performed. “I wasn’t there just to walk, I was there for the spotlight and recognition. I gathered all my strength and confidence to put on a show.” That mindset has become her signature, turning each step into a statement.
Her time at the CBB Discovery Show also served as a training ground. “I knew what was expected of me. I learned to be true to myself, improve my walk and enhance my facial expressions.” While competition can be overwhelming, she focuses inward. “Everyone is at their best, and it can make you feel like you’re losing. But I reminded myself to stay true and give it my all.”
Like many aspiring models, she faces financial challenges, especially with travel costs for gigs. But her determination remains unshaken. Her next goal? “To create a strong visual impact with every outfit. Confidence and walking are key, so I’m working to make my walk even stronger.”
With her eyes set on international recognition, Nontsikelelo Nhlabatsi is not just walking runways, she’s walking into a future filled with promise. And if her journey so far is anything to go by, she’s destined for the spotlight.
