MBABANE – In the heart of the Lubombo Region, hope took the form of ten vibrant spaza shop containers, each one a doorway to possibility.
On a bright, spirit-filled day, Res Corp Managing Director Nick Jackson stood before an eager crowd, presenting the units to young entrepreneurs from Khuphuka, Dvokolwako, Manzana, Nkambeni, and Mnjoli.
Each of the five communities received two units, collectively worth E70 000, marking a significant investment in youth empowerment and sustainable community development. Built by a skilled local supplier from kaMjekuza, the sturdy structures are more than just shops, they are steppingstones toward financial independence, innovation, and self-reliance.
Jackson, speaking with a warm conviction, said the project was inspired by Res Corp’s commitment to go “#BeyondSugar” and invest in the human capital of Eswatini.
The initiative is part of Res Corp’s ongoing mission to drive economic opportunity in its neighboring areas. By sourcing the build locally, the company not only empowered the final recipients but also created jobs and skills development during the manufacturing phase.
Community leaders applauded the donation, calling it “a game changer” that would spark local trade and keep wealth circulating within the Lubombo region.
As the painted containers were wheeled into place, the air was filled with laughter, camera flashes, and the unmistakable feeling that something powerful had begun. For the young recipients, the gift is more than metal walls and a counter, it’s a chance to write their own success stories.
