MBABANE- A 21-year-old man from Nkhokhokhweni area has been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment or a fine of E2 000 after being found guilty of housebreaking and theft.
The incident occurred on December 09, 2025, when the suspect unlawfully entered a local home and stole valuable traditional regalia (imvunulo) valued at E76 750.
The police investigation made a breakthrough after receiving information that the suspect was attempting to sell the stolen items in Manzini. Acting on this tip-off, officers tracked and arrested the suspect on 09 January 2026, recovering some of the stolen regalia.
Authorities say the case highlights the critical role community members play in preventing crime and supporting law enforcement efforts.
In a separate development, Sidvokodvo Police have arrested a 23-year-old man from Endlinilembi area in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old local resident. The victim’s body, discovered on 07 January 2026 along a pathway, bore stab wounds.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect and the victim had been drinking together when an argument over a mobile phone escalated, resulting in the fatal stabbing. The suspect was taken into custody on 10 January 2026 and is scheduled to appear before Manzini Magistrates Court today.
These cases underscore the combined efforts of police and community members in maintaining public safety and ensuring justice is served.
