MANZINI– Pastors from various Christian denominations gathered at The George Hotel yesterday, 29 January 2026, for a seminar hosted by the Eswatini Conference of Churches (ECC) under the theme “The Pursuit of Christian Unity.”
The event brought together church leaders, including Senate President Lindiwe Dlamini and Minister of Housing and Urban Development Appolo Maphalala, to discuss ways to promote dialogue, reconciliation, and cooperation within the Christian community.
The seminar, rooted in Ephesians 4:1–3, encouraged pastors to walk in humility, patience, and love, strengthening unity within the body of Christ. Rev. Samuel Lee from the United States led the main session, urging pastors not to compete but to support one another and their congregations. He said, “If one pastor succeeds, the others must support him and congregate together,” a message echoed by ECC Vice President Pastor Hamilton Malaza.
Pastor Malaza also addressed ongoing disputes in churches, apologising to the public and stating that such conflicts do not reflect the true values of the church. He urged church leaders to prioritise internal dialogue and engagement when differences arise, rather than allowing disagreements to spill into the public domain.
Delivering his remarks during the seminar, Minister Maphalala drew on scripture and Christian values, calling for unity, integrity, and moral leadership among pastors. Using a metaphor of rain falling on different generations, he emphasised the importance of listening to God and understanding one another across age and experience. “Sometimes we may not get each other as things begin to happen. But if we are able to hear from God, we limit what we say and open our ears wider,” he said.
The gathering marked a significant step in promoting collaboration among Christian leaders in Eswatini, reinforcing the message that the strength of the church lies in unity, dialogue, and shared purpose.
