MBABANE– Spoken word poetry and nature will blend in a celebration of creativity as Poetry In A Park, Lobamba 2.0 takes centre stage at Coronation Park on March 28, 2026, bringing together poets, creatives and literature lovers for an afternoon dedicated to storytelling and artistic expression.

Presented by Thenjiwe Bhal’nkondlo, the event seeks to create a dynamic platform for emerging voices while strengthening the growing spoken-word movement in Eswatini. The gathering aims to celebrate creativity, nurture upcoming talent and connect artists through the shared power of poetry.

The initiative builds on the success of its first edition held in the Lobamba constituency, where audiences were captivated by the depth of talent discovered during the event. That debut featured Thandumusa Malinga as the headlining performer alongside several supporting acts, creating an atmosphere that inspired the team to continue developing the platform.

Reflecting on the decision to bring the event back, the organising team said they were motivated by the impact poetry had on both artists and audiences.

“Believing that talent is what makes us better people through the stories told, networks built and lessons shared, we thought, why not give it another chance and see where it goes,” the team said.

While the initial plan for the second edition was modest — featuring only a headliner and a single supporting act — the concept quickly evolved as more artists expressed interest in participating. The lineup eventually expanded to include a diverse mix of performers, reflecting the commitment to giving emerging talent an opportunity to shine.

The event will be hosted by MC Lombane, with celebrated spoken-word artist Twin DaPoet headlining the show. Supporting acts include Majaha Nkonyane, Poet Masikane, and SP Mkholo, while additional performers such as Okuhle, TeeM, Afi, and Teller will also take to the stage.

The team explained that instead of focusing on a specific theme, artists were selected for their ability to address different life experiences through poetry, ensuring that audiences connect with a wide range of stories and messages.

To strengthen collaboration among performers, a WhatsApp group has also been created to allow artists to share ideas, coordinate performances and support one another creatively.

Thubelihle Maseko, CEO and Organiser of Poetry In A Park emphasised the dedication and passion artists bring to the platform.

“We take pride in the hunger that comes from the artists themselves to curate their work in a way they know best; in this instance poetry. We find that humbling, and it gives us the responsibility to work tirelessly to ensure this platform becomes a reputable and solid one where artists can showcase their work,” Maseko said.

Maseko further highlighted the importance of unity within the creative community.

“We are building a community that I hope we hold together as artists, corporates, literature lovers and many more. With our feet on the gas pedal, we have to move in unity and with the right energy if we are to grow bigger and better,” Maseko added.

The event is supported by several partners including Babangithi Investments, JR Vision Films, R. Visuals, Weirdo Clothing, Eswatini Poetry Updates, and Yebo Art Gallery, among others.

Poetry in the Park, Lobamba 2.0 will begin at 12:30 PM on March 28, and attendees can secure entry with a support fee of E30.
