EZULWINI – Guests who attended the royal dinner on Sunday night, April 26, 2026, at the Palazzo Hotel left with more than memories, as gifts from His Majesty King Mswati III stirred deep emotions of gratitude, pride and inspiration. The presentation of gifts marked the closing of the King’s double celebration of 40 years on the throne and his 58th birthday, following the vibrant culture day held at Ludzidzini Royal Residence.
The evening, which ended with another spectacular display of fireworks, symbolised unity and appreciation. The King’s gesture was described by many as a reflection of “agape love,” a value he continues to promote among emaSwati.
Gifts galore added to the joy of the occasion, as guests left the elegant dinner at the Ezulwini Palazzo with mementos of the lavish weekend spent with Their Majesties. The evening, marked by warmth and celebration, ended on a thoughtful note as attendees were presented with carefully curated gift boxes. Each guest received a selection of exotic Arab perfumes, an umhlelwane, and a small cake, tokens that reflected both generosity and cultural appreciation. Many guests expressed delight at the gesture, describing it as a fitting conclusion to a weekend filled with grandeur and royal hospitality. The atmosphere remained joyful as attendees departed, sharing smiles and appreciation for the experience.
Thabiso Mhlanga expressed heartfelt appreciation, describing the moment as humbling. “I felt deeply humbled and overwhelmed with gratitude. It was an honour to receive a gift from His Majesty during such a historic milestone,” he said. Mhlanga added that the gesture symbolised fatherly care from the King and reinforced a sense of belonging. “This gift provides both practical support and renewed hope,” he noted, adding that it encouraged him to remain a loyal and productive member of the community.
For Nomfundo Simelane, the experience was both exciting and meaningful. She said receiving a gift from the King on his own birthday was unexpected. “It felt really special. When I opened it, I was genuinely surprised. The Dubai oils are quite expensive, which showed real thought behind the gift,” she said. Simelane added that the gesture made her feel recognised in her growing journalism career. “It reminded me that my efforts are leading somewhere,” she said.
Sheila Bennett also shared similar sentiments, describing the moment as an honour.
