MBABANE – The Government has appointed Muzi Siyaya, Managing Director of Ubombo Sugar Limited, as Chairperson of the newly constituted Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) Board, placing him at the centre of a national drive to attract large-scale investment and accelerate economic transformation.
The announcement was made in Mbabane, EIPA offices on May 11, 2026, by Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo, who said the board has been assigned a bold mandate to fast-track economic growth, drive industrialisation, and create sustainable employment opportunities in line with the national development vision championed by His Majesty King Mswati III
The Minister revealed that the new board is expected to attract at least 10 major investors, each committing a minimum of E1 billion, as government intensifies efforts to expand industrial capacity and boost job creation.
“This board is expected to be bold, proactive and results-driven. We are looking at transformational investments that will significantly shift the structure of our economy,” the Minister said.
Siyaya said the board accepts its mandate with humility and commitment, pledging alignment with government priorities and strong collaboration with stakeholders.
“We are deeply humbled by the confidence placed in me and the newly appointed board of the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA),” Siyaya said.
“We accept this responsibility with humility and a firm commitment to supporting government’s vision for economic growth, investment promotion, and job creation.”
He highlighted EIPA’s central role in strengthening Eswatini’s investment competitiveness and improving the ease of doing business.
“EIPA occupies a very important position in helping to attract investment into the country. You’ve given us an additional challenge of growing businesses with a billion-turnover every year,” he said.
“It also plays a critical role in facilitating business processes and strengthening our competitiveness as an investment destination.”
Siyaya further committed that the board will work closely with EIPA management, led by the CEO, the Ministry, the private sector, and other stakeholders to ensure professionalism, efficiency, and integrity in service delivery.
He also acknowledged the outgoing board for its service, noting that continuity would be strengthened by the retention of two members.
“We will benefit from continuity and we look forward to learning from them,” he said.
“We are ready to serve.”
Alongside Siyaya, the newly appointed board members include Mbali Sibanyoni, Albert Chibi, Sifiso Khumalo, Henry Mndawe, Kingdom Mamba, and Fundile Mndzebele.
The diverse composition of the board is expected to strengthen EIPA’s capacity to position Eswatini as a competitive investment destination amid intensifying global competition for capital.
