EZULWINI Thousands of women are expected to gather at the EOCGA Offices at Olympafrica Lobamba Sports Centre on June 27, 2026, as the highly anticipated SPAR Women’s Challenge returns with a powerful message of empowerment, unity and social impact.

The annual challenge, organised by SPAR Lowveld, will feature both 10km and 4.1km races, bringing together elite athletes, fitness enthusiasts, families and community members in celebration of women in Eswatini.

More than just a race, organisers say the event has evolved into a movement aimed at uplifting women and children while addressing pressing social issues such as gender-based violence and period poverty.

Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Bella Mogane said the event seeks to unite women from all walks of life while making a meaningful difference in communities.

“The SPAR Women’s Challenge has long been more than just a race; it is a movement. What began as a local road race has transformed into a vibrant event of empowerment, sisterhood and community impact,” she said.

This year’s edition will support two local non-profit organisations, Hosea’s Heart and BAWSS Foundation, both of which focus on the protection and empowerment of women and children.

Hosea’s Heart provides shelter, healing and educational support for girls who have survived sexual exploitation and abuse, while the BAWSS Foundation advocates for the welfare of women and children and promotes menstrual hygiene education for girls.

According to organisers, every ticket purchased and every kilometre completed will contribute towards supporting these causes.

“When you join the 4.1km or 10km challenge, you aren’t just crossing a finish line; you are helping a young girl find safety at Hosea’s Heart or providing dignity to a girl through BAWSS Foundation,” Mogane explained.

The event will take place at the Olympafrica Lobamba Sports Centre in Ezulwini, with tickets available at all SPAR and SUPERSPAR stores nationwide. Standard entry fees apply, while SPAR Rewards members will receive discounted entries at E180 upon swiping their rewards cards.

Participants will also receive a SPAR Women’s Challenge accessory kit and the popular SPAR goodie bag packed with products from sponsors and partners.

Organisers have encouraged women to attend alongside friends and family members to celebrate strength, resilience and unity.

“We invite you to bring your mothers, daughters, sisters and friends. Let us fill the streets with laughter, energy and the vibrant colours of celebration. Whether you run for the prize, walk for your health, or join for the cause, your presence makes a difference,” said Mogane.

Men and children will also be allowed to participate in support of the initiative.

The challenge is expected to once again shine a spotlight on women’s empowerment while strengthening community solidarity through sport and charity.
