MANZINI– Excitement is building ahaead of the MTN Bushfire Festival weekend as South Africa’s leading commercial radio station, RISE FM, prepares to host a major entertainment takeover in Eswatini this Friday.
The much-anticipated RISE FM Eswatini Takeover will take place at IF’S Lounge on May 29, bringing together music lovers, radio personalities and top entertainers from both Eswatini and Mpumalanga for a night of live performances and cultural celebration.
Leading the entertainment line-up is award-winning South African R&B and neo-soul artist Afrotraction, born Mzandile Moya in Mpumalanga. The artist is expected to headline performances both at IF’S Lounge and at the Mpumalanga stand during the MTN Bushfire Festival on May 30.
Speaking ahead of the event, RISE FM Station Manager Makhosi Khoza said the takeover aims to strengthen cultural and entertainment ties between Mpumalanga and Eswatini while giving audiences an unforgettable experience.
The event will also feature popular radio personalities and DJs including BigZillOnair from Good Morning Mpumalanga, producer and DJ Nonto M, Gratias Deo, ZEE THE DJ, Mistosoul, Yamkela, Obsession, Paris, Acoustic Soul, Taiiro L and Skeezy.
Sports anchor and media personality GTZ will host the event.
Entrance to the takeover is set at E80, with organisers expecting a large turnout ahead of one of the region’s biggest music weekends.
Beyond entertainment, the station continues expanding its influence across communities through youth development, culture and talent discovery initiatives. Through its partnership with the Afrotraction Foundation, the station recently launched the Unsigned Vocalist Campaign, which offers upcoming artists mentorship, recording opportunities and radio exposure.
Since taking over leadership at the station, Khoza has pushed the vision of “disrupt and amplify”, introducing unconventional broadcasts and regional collaborations aimed at growing audiences beyond Mpumalanga.
Founded in Mbombela in 2014 after the rebranding of MPowerFM, RISE FM continues to strengthen its footprint across Southern Africa through music, radio and community-driven programming.
